APRILIA motorcycles

APRILIA motorcycles are an Italian company, renowned for making exciting motorbikes, like the Caponord & RSV mille motorcycle.

The Aprilia Caponord has a 1000cc v-twin engine, large fairing & a comfortable riding position that makes it ideal for motorcycle touring, whilst the Aprilia Pegaso is more trail bike oriented, with a single cyclinder 650cc engine. The 600cc Aprilia Tuareg is now an older motorbike & hard to find at motorcycle dealers.

Aprilia motorcycle parts & servicing:

Both the Aprilia Caponord & Pegaso motorcycles are still in production, & parts, service centers & motorcycle dealers are available, however, OEM parts & secondhand spares may not be common.

Neither Aprilia motorcycle has a Haynes manual, so you would need to buy the RSV Mille manual & the Aprilia workshop manuals.

There are motorcycle accessories (like luggage) made for both motorcycles, however, they are not as common as other models.

The Aprilia Tuareg was built in the late eighties & is now hard to purchase. Getting parts for the Aprilia Tuareg may be difficult & I have heard of it suffering from some electrical problems.

Aprilia motorcycle build quality
Reliability & build quality seems OK, but not upto BMW or Honda standards. The Aprilia Caponard motorcycle has a complex engine, so perhaps not the best choice if you are travelling outside RAC road recovery. My choice for serious adventure motorcycling would be the Pegaso 650 (1992-2000) with the Austrian rotax engine & carbs, but for road based touring it would be the Caponord.
