Suzuki Motorcycles

SUZUKI motorcycles are Japanese & have produced the DR dual sport range for decades. The DR350 motorcycle is highly regarded in the green laning, enduro & dual sport world. Build quality was an issue with early Suzuki's, however, post 1996 motorbikes are much better such as the DR650se. Their latest big trailie is the V-strom, 1000cc & 650cc, & more a road biased tourer.

Suzuki Parts & Servicing:

Only the V-strom is still in production. TheDR650se was the next most recent. Suzuki motorcycle spares & parts are readily available at service centers & motorcycle dealers. OEM parts & secondhand Suzuki spares are common. Try Robinsons Foundary, UK.

No Haynes manuals are printed. Check for a workshop manual or Clymber guide for the others. The DR800 only has the workshop manual. There is a Clymber manual for the DR350 that may be handy.

Motorcycle accessories (like luggage) are plentiful for the Vstrom & DR650se, but limited for the others.

The twins: The Vstrom is the big road biased traillie tourer, with 650cc & 1000cc models.

The singles: All have a similar engine, an air cooled single. Some use a decompression lever to aid starting.

Reliability & build quality

Suzuki's are generally of a lower build quality than other Jap motorcycles. The build quality & tolerances are usually inferior to Honda. Saying that, the older DR's are a simple, robust bike. The post 1996 DR650's had better build quality.
