Yamaha Motorcycles

YAMAHA motorcycles are Japanese, & the XT600 is a benchmark for simple, reliable, single cyclinder trail motorbikes. The YAMAHA Tenere (pronounced ten-air-ray) has been a popular round the world motorbike, due to its rugged simplicity & big fuel tank. They also offered a parallel twin version called the XTZ750 super tenere. Unfortunate Yamaha seem to have given up on big trail bikes focused on adventure touring.

The older TT600 & newer TTR600 are excellent enduro / green-laners & could be adapted, whilst the current XT600E offers a tiny tank & supermoto styling.

Yamaha Motorcycle Parts & Servicing:

None are in production. Yamaha motorcycle spares & parts are readily available at service centers & motorcycle dealers. OEM parts & secondhand Yamaha spares are common.

No Haynes manuals are printed. Check for a workshop manual or Clymber guide for the others. The older XT600 appears to have a Clymber manual for it.

Yamaha motorcycle accessories (like luggage) are plentiful.

Yamaha twins: The Super Tenere is the big road biased traillie tourer, with an 750cc parallel twin engine.

Yamaha singles: All have a similar engine, an air cooled single. Tried & tested engine, & a good choice for adventure touring in extreme conditions ro remote locations.

Yamaha Motorcycle Build Quality

Yamaha's are generally of a lower build quality than other Honda or BMW motorcycles, but better than Suzuki. I've owned a TDM that was average, & Thundercat that was excellent.
